This podcast grabbed my heartstrings, as if Stoic Mom and Regina were speaking directly to me.

Not sure I would have ever become a mom if I knew what emotional work it would entail. But here we are, here I am, and I thank the higher power of my understanding that I'm not traveling these roads alone.

Towards the end of the podcast, SM and RZ get into some pretty deep topics..... not sure I followed it all completely, so it's probably worth a second listen. Some of their conversation reminded me of those late nights in college where the meaning of life gets explored!

Thanks for this comment! I'd say that's what we were going for--the meaning of life. ;) I think about this so much, "Not sure I would have ever become a mom if I knew what emotional work it would entail." Yet, I think Motherhood is the very thing that packs enough punch to grow us up if we lean into that oh-so-difficult emotional work. I suspect we set out to save ourselves by giving our children the life we wanted, only to discover we can't. They will indeed save us, but it won't be how we thought, and it will hurt a helluva lot more...the meaning of life!

Have you, by chance, seen the movie, The Arrival? I keep waiting for someone to watch this and come back to let me know they understand why I recommend it.

I wonder are you referring to the movie "Arrival"? It's the one that stars Amy Adams and totally made me cry. I loved it. Lots of food for thought in the movie.

"_The_ Arrival" is a sci fi thriller. Haven't watched that one yet...

I love the image of transforming how the recipient of the hot, spiky ball handles it.
